Play Year / Season
DUSA and DUSA teams recognizes a two season play year. Play year involves both Fall (August - November) and Spring (February - May) seasons. Players will be registered as a DUSA player for both seasons.

Team Placement
Teams (Academy, Select, Athena & Classic) will be determined based on open tryouts held during May/June for the following Fall and Spring seasons. Open tryout information will be publicized and posted on the DUSA site and area locations prior to tryouts.

Moving Players
Once a player is selected and signed with an Academy/Select team a player can be moved up or down to other Academy/Select teams. Player movement will be determined by the trainers and/or the Director of Coaching and will be in the best interest of the player and the individual player's development. The move will be made if:
I. The player has exceeded the skill level and challenge of the original team
II. The player's skill level and challenge is more in line with another team and the individual player development will benefit from the move
III. A team is short a player(s) for a game, tournament, or event

Practices
All teams and players are committed to team practices twice a week for 90 minute sessions (weather permitting). Practices are led by a professionally certified soccer trainer. Teams will practice individually but may involve friendly scrimmages with other DUSA teams. Each team also will have a volunteer coach and a volunteer team manager. During the summer following tryouts there will be a mandatory team camp held.

Games
Games will be played locally and in surrounding areas / counties. Games will be led by the teams volunteer coach. Travel arrangements and car pooling are a possibility within the team.

Playing Time
As per regulations, all players are guaranteed to play a minimum of 50% of each game their team participates in. However, playing time is allowed to be affected by and may be affected by lack of commitment to team, program, and self through actions such as failure to make it to practices and/or games and/or arriving late to practices and/or games.
